Wyoming Moves RB Trey Woods To Defensive End
Woods now gets the chance to tackle people on the field.
Last year’s leading rusher is now playing defense

Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl is shaking things up with his roster by moving running back Trey Woods, who was last year’s leading rusher with 493 yards, to defensive end.
Woods was just recently cleared earlier in the week to face contact in practices, and now he gets to hit people instead of eluding them.
“We think he’s got great promise (at defensive end), and also I think it’s an indication of some of the depth we’ve developed at running back,” Bohl said via the Casper Star-Tribune. “Trey’s a really good athlete. I think he’s about 218 pounds right now. He’s going to get bigger, and he’s got good size. We play with athletic defensive ends, and I thought he did some good things today.”
This also is not new for Wood who has already spent time on defense when he first arrived on campus where he was a linebacker, so this switch to defensive end is not going to be completely foreign to him.
“He’s more of an outside linebacker,” Bohl said. “Really, a lot of times, that’s what we play with (at defensive end). Even though they have their hand down, sometimes he’ll have his hand up. I thought he edge rushed well today.”
Hopefully Bohl is right about that depth at the running game because last year that unit was underwhelming with 1,414 yards and a paltry 3.2 yards per carry.
