Head Coach: Jake Spavital enters his first season as a head coach after serving many years as an offensive assistant with current Houston coach Dana Holgorsen. Throughout his career, he has had stops with other Air Raid coaches such as Kevin Sumlin and Sonny Dykes.

Overview:

Offense

With Spavital and new offensive coordinator and former Montana head coach Bob Stitt, a high scoring offense should eventually become a mainstay at the program. Stitt will reunite with Gresch Jensen, a 2017 Freshman All-American quarterback from Montana, and an offensive line that returns everyone. The 2019 Bobcats have some big names coaching their offense and they will be much improved moving forward.

Defense

The Bobcats defense is led by their linebacker corps that includes Bryan London,Nikolas Daniels and Frankie Griffin. London led the Sun Belt last season with 109 tackles while Daniels was second with 108 stops. Griffin led the team with 8 tackles for loss. Despite a disappointing 3-9 record last season, the defense was a middle of the pack unit that could have had their statistics skewed by playing with the worst offense in the Sun Belt. With 10 returning starters on defense and a new offensive philosophy, Texas State has the potential to be much improved statistically in 2019.
