Why Wyoming Will Win

Tempo. That’s what the Cowboys need to use to beat the Rams. Also they need to stay out of foul trouble. When Wyoming and Colorado State met earlier this season, it was a foul fest. The Cowboys couldn’t get their tempo going because there seemed to be a foul called every other possession. With Prentiss Nixon and J.D. Paige both expected to miss this matchup due to injury, the Cowboys need to use their tempo to tire out this depleted Rams roster.
Wyoming has the three point shooters to take advantage of the Rams defense. Against New Mexico, the Rams allowed New Mexico to launch 34 three point shots and the Lobos converted on 13 of them. Turnovers will also play an important part. If the Cowboys can force the Rams to turn the ball over a lot, they can run away with this game.

Why Colorado State Will Win

The Rams have the talent to win this game. They won at Wyoming earlier this season. With the loss of Nixon and Paige for this game, they have to stay out of foul trouble and slow the tempo down. Nico Carvacho is coming into his own this year. The Rams need to have Carvacho touch the ball down low at least once per possession. When Carvacho touches the ball, good things happen for the Rams.
CSU will have to improve their defense this game. They can’t let the Cowboys launch 30 three point shots. They also can’t collapse so far when the ball is in the post. The Cowboys will kill them from deep if they do. If they can improve their defense and stop committing so many turnovers, the Rams have a chance to sweep the Border War this year.
