Aggies are the only team predicted so far.

College basketball is fast approaching but that doesn’t stop from creating updated NCAA Tournament projections. The latest round of updates for the 2020 field of 68 are out.

ESPN and CBS Sports, others released their latest bracketologly posts and they both see the Mountain West landing just one team in the field and it is Utah State.

These Aggies are ranked 17th in the Associated Press top 25 poll and are the only Mountain West team ranked. Look for early NCAA Tournament projections to only feature Utah State.

CBS Sports: No. 6 Utah State vs. No. 11 Mississippi State

ESPN: No. 6 Utah State vs. No. 11 Wisconsin

BracksketBlogs: Utah State a five seed

Making the Madness: No. 7 Utah State vs. No. 10 Auburn

NBC Sports: No. 6 Utah State

As you can see, Utah State is going to be in basically every single preseason bracketology post and the average seems to be about a six-seed for Utah State. The big question is if they can live up to the hype as a unanimous pick to win the Mountain West and be one of the best teams out West?

While the Aggies are getting a favorable seeding for the NCAA Tournament, the actual odds of them winning the whole thing are slim at this point. Sports Betting Dime has constantly updated odds in case you want to check back in the upcoming months, but Utah State is not in the mix as of now.

Who knows if or when that will change but if the Aggies get off to a good start in non-league play perhaps the oddsmakers will include Utah State.

The Aggies have Sam Merrill who will be in the running for All-American teams if the season goes as planned, Neemias Queta will take the next step in his sophomore and Craig Smith is now getting used to the Mountain West.

All signs point to Utah State having a good season and a tough schedule to prove their worth for the season. Expectations will be hard to live up to as the Aggies will get opponents best shot once conference play begins.
