Is Utah State in danger of losing Craig Smith?
It’s no surprise that Utah State’s Craig Smith is a hot commodity in an offseason where many schools have a head coaching vacancy.
Earlier, Minnesota appeared to be a potential spot for Smith, but now Utah from the Pac-12 is looking at Craig Smith as potentially their top candidate.

A pair of alum’s removed their name from consideration. The first name was Alex Jensen, a former big-time Utah player in the late 90-early 2000s, including a Mountain West Player of the Year award in 2000. Currently, he is a current Jazz assistant with his eyes on an NBA head coaching job.
Another former Runnin Ute, Johnnie Bryant is opting to stay as a Knicks assistant rather than moving onto the college game.
Smith is now in consideration to take over as Utah’s head coaching vacancy. It’s a story to watch throughout the next couple of weeks. Smith would get a significant pay raise should he opt to move to Salt Lake City and also a tougher challenge by going from the Mountain West to the Pac-12.
It’ll be far from the last job Smith’s name gets tossed around in. With the Oklahoma job opening after Lon Kruger retiring could put Smith into the running there, and Shaka Smart left Texas today. Both could be spots we hear Utah State’s star coach involved with.
Smith is a hot name with his success in just a few short years at Utah State.
