Utah State center Neemias Queta announced Tuesday that he will be returning to the Aggies after initially placing his name in this year’s draft class.

Queta, a freshman this past season, averaged 11.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game while shooting 61.4 percent from the field. He started in each of his 35 appearances, helping lead the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament.
The Portuguese big man stands at 6-11 and 225 pounds, with his frame alone already making him an intriguing option at the next level. Many draft prognosticators project Queta as a rim-protecting big in the NBA, with the ability to defend skilled opponents by contesting shots and rejecting attempts in the painted area. The consensus around Queta is that if he improves his offensive skill set, he could very well push for a first round selection in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Queta will enter the 2019-20 Mountain West basketball season as one of the main contenders for the league’s player of the year award.
