After going through a myriad of injuries and a four-game losing streak in January, Utah State was able to end the month the same way they began it: with a win. The Aggies had a very strong second half and were able to hold off the Lobos to get their third straight win.

Including tonight’s win, the Aggies’ winning streak also includes wins over Air Force and Fresno State. Before that, the team was going through a season-long four-game losing streak.

After leading by as many as 15 in the second half, the Aggies saw their lead dwindle down to 3 after New Mexico went on a 17-3 run. But the Aggies responded and ended on a 6-0 run to end the game.

Utah State’s efforts were led by none other than sophomore guard Koby McEwen. He went off in this one, scoring a new career-high 31 points and got a double-double with 13 rebounds and added 6 assists. He was 10-for-15 shooting, including a very impressive 6-of-8 from three-point range.

For New Mexico, guard Anthony Mathis led the way for the Lobos with 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting to go along with two rebounds and five assists.

With the win, Utah State moves to 13-11 overall and 6-5 in conference play, moving into sixth place in the conference. For New Mexico, they drop to 11-12 overall and 6-4 in conference play, currently in fourth place.

For the Aggies, their next game takes them on the road to play Boise State, while New Mexico will travel to San Jose State.
