You can see Rebel football in person

Seeing a college football game in person is not the easiest thing to do this fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it will change all year long with what local entity is allowing in its area.

One such stadium that was hotly anticipated to see in person is Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas which the UNLV Rebels are sharing with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Raiders announced earlier this Summer that no fans will be allowed all year but UNLV football will allow fans for the next two games, per a school release. The Rebels initially wanted 10% attendance but it ended up being 3% which equates to 2,000 fans.

“We appreciate the work of the Southern Nevada Health District and the state of Nevada throughout this process,” UNLV athletic director Desiree Reed-Francois said in a statement. “We have been in constant communication with both entities as well as with Allegiant Stadium to interpret the guidelines with respect to specific facility capabilities.”

“The health and safety of everyone involved, both on the field and in the stands, is our primary concern, and although attendance will be limited, we can’t wait to get our season started and look forward to next Saturday’s historic home opener in Allegiant Stadium,” Reed-Francois said.

The very first game for fans in the stands at the shiny new stadium will be UNLV hosting rival Nevada with the Fremont Cannon and that it is a good thing that fans can see this rivalry game in person, even if the attendance is extremely limited.

For Rebels fans, the hope is that the team can show improvement over its season-opening loss vs. San Diego State.

The second game with fans allowed will be hosting Fresno State on Nov. 7.
