Close series comes to an end
The first half of the first game was quite close ending in a 35-32 lead for UNLB following a buzzer-beating layup.
T.J. Otzelberger’s crew came out firing in the 2nd half, UNLV went up 47-36 3:45 into the second half. That did swing rather quickly, only two minute later cutting it back down to a four-point lead for UNLV.
After that it was full steam ahead. UNLV led by double-figures nearly the entire rest of the game, ending with a 76-60 win for the Runnin Rebels.
UNLV’s leading scorer, Bryce Hamilton posted 18 points & eight rebounds, continuing to be the top scorer for the Rebs.
David Jenkins Jr.also came off the bench dropping in 16 points with three deep ones.
I was also encouraged by what freshman, Devin Tillis contributed, posting 14 points in this one.
SJSU star, Richard Washington returned following a lengthy absence with 15 points. Ralph Agee led the Spartans with 18 points, while Trey Smith also contributed with 15 points.

The first half of game two, went similar to first-half of game one. UNLV went into break leading by one.
The trajectory of the game went in the same direction in the 2nd half. UNLV went up by ten following a pair of David Jenkins Jr.triples at the 15:21 mark.
The lead got all the way to 13 at the 10:04 mark, however, that didn’t last long. A 13-0 run ensued which resulted in a tie-game at 54 all. Quite impressive for San Jose State to show that kind of fight.
It became a two-point deficit at the 1:16 mark following a pair of Sebastian Mendoza free throws.
Bryce Hamilton followed with a layup, Omari Moore traded a layup of his own. With 42 seconds remaining SJSU decided to let the Rebels play out the possession, Jenkins missed a three, but there was an offensive rebound with 11 seconds left, forcing UNLV to foul Jenkins. The guard split the pair making it 67-64, and then Richard Washington missed a three to end the game, UNLV by three.
