Future Big 12 team gets on the Rebels schedule

UNLV has added a home-and-home with future Big 12 member Houston Cougars. These contracts are always years down the road and the Rebels and Cougars will play in 2024 and 2028, per FBSchedules.com.
Per the report, the series will kickoff with Houston on Aug. 31, 2024, and the return game on Sept. 9, 2028
Houston is going to the Big 12 in a few years and will be in a major conference, so this is a solid get for UNLV to get an above-average Houston team to come to Las Vegas.
This will be the fourth all-time meeting between these two programs. Houston has a 3-0 record against UNLV. These games have not been close at all with a 69-0 drubbing back in 1989, a 37-9 road defeat in 1999, and most recently a 47-14 loss to Houston in 2014
UNLV now has three non-conference games scheduled for the 2024 season by playing Army and BYU at home, in addition to Houston on the road. The final game that year is likely to be an FCS team for the Rebels to fill out its schedule that year.
That 2024 non-conference schedule will be a difficult one for the Rebels and perhaps the team will be on the up and up under head coach Marcus Arroyo.
In 2028, there is the Houston game and also the return road trip to face Army on Oct. 7 at West Point, New York.
