Offense and defense are both represented.

Watchlist season continues this morning with the release of the Outland Trophy watchlist. Given annually to the nation’s best interior lineman, there are three names from the Mountain West on this year’s preseason list.

Wyoming defensive tackle Youhanna Ghaifan, who was also named to the Nagurski Trophy watchlist this morning, broke out as one of the most disruptive players in the conference last fall, a first-team all-Mountain West athlete who finished the year with 69 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks.

Boise State’s David Moa, like Ghaifan, was also a Nagurski Trophy watchlist entry today. He had 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks in 11 starts as a junior.

Nevada center Sean Krepsz earned an honorable mention from the conference last fall after doing his part to keep Ty Gangi upright, allowing a sack rate of just 1.8%, and get the offense moving forward. The Wolf Pack ranked 25th in the nation in Stuff Rate (percentage of plays stopped at or behind the line of scrimmage), maintaining their gains from 2016.

Last year’s Outland Trophy winner was Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver.
