A source told Mountain West Wire Friday that Fresno State wing Jaron Hopkins will be out indefinitely due to a back injury.
Hopkins aggravated his back in the 70-55 win over CSU Bakersfield Tuesday night. He had previously played in and started each of Fresno State’s first nine games.
The senior wing is currently averaging 12.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He’s also shooting 54.1% from the field, and is eighth in the Mountain West in player efficiency rating. Hopkins ranked No. 12 in the 2017-18 Mountain West Wire Basketball Countdown rankings.
The timetable for Hopkins’ return is unknown at this time. Fresno State (7-2) plays Cal Poly, Arkansas Pine Bluff, Oregon and D-II Cal St. Monterey Bay to wrap up non-conference play.
The Bulldogs open at home against Nevada to begin Mountain West competition.
