Why San Jose State Will Win
San Jose State (2-6) will look to snap a three-game losing streak and pick up the offensive pace in order to down Portland (3-6) on Saturday night. Though Portland has struggled in recent years, the Pilots made the CollegeInsider.com Tournament in 2015. Portland showed some positive signs in the first round against Sacramento State, despite the 73-66 loss. San Jose State forward Ryan Welage could present some problems for the Portland front court, leading all Spartans with 12 points in the team’s last game against Denver. If Welage shows up, the Spartans can get past Portland.
