The Spartans play there second game of the Junkanoo Jam tournament against CSU Bakersfield after losing to Weber State 77-85. In the game against Weber Stat the Spartans struggled in the first half shooting only 27% putting them down 29-45 at the half. The second half was a different story as the Spartans shot 54.5% from the field and were able to cut a 17 point deficiet to 6 with 2:51 remaining but the Wildcats would hold on for the win. Christian Anigwe, a freshman from Phoenix, Arizona, came off the bench to lead all San Jose in scorers with 20 points and 13 rebounds.
CSU Bakersfield also lost their first game of the tournament to Central Michigan 55-67. The Road Runners opened the season at #20 TCU and kept it close but ultimately lost by 5. In between those games, Bakerfield blew out NAIA Antelope Valley 111-75. With Rod Barnes entering his 8th season, he currently has the Road Runners rated #199 in the Ken Pom Rankings. Barnes lead the Road Runners to there first NCAA tournament and best record in school history in the 2015-16 season. CSU Bakersfield was picked to finish 5th out of 9 teams in both the Media and Coach’s poll this year. Bakersfield is led by senior Damiyne Durham, who was picked to be on the media’s All-WAC first team. Durham currently leads the team in points per game at 13.5 and is second on the team in rebounds per game with 4.5
