What Are The Keys To The Game?
What was looking like a promising season for Colorado State has turned into a bit of a nightmare. Losers of 3 in a row, conference title hopes dashed away, and memories of an overtime loss last weekend still fresh in their minds, the Rams have to dig deep and focus as they take on a very poor San Jose State team in their final regular season game.
Here are the keys to the game:
1. Feed The Big Boys
It’s Senior Day in Ft Collins which is appropriate considering that Colorado State should be running behind senior center Jake Bennett as he plays his last game on campus. San Jose State’s rushing defense ranks 130th out of 130 FBS schools. That’s dead last in the country so expect to see fellow senior running back Dalyn Dawkins get the vast majority of carries.
2. Let Gallup Be Gallup
Senior Michael Gallup leads the nation in receiving yards. With Dawkins opening up San Jose State running the football, this should lead to some desirable match-ups for Gallup on the outside. Senior Nick Stevens has found Gallup all year long, time for one last go around.
3. Pride
What started off as a promising unit has struggled, to put it mildly, to get off the field in the second half. They are also a unit that caused 5 turnovers in their opening game against Oregon State and they have only 5 turnovers in the last 4 games. The defense needs to have some pride heading into the bowl game and San Jose State offers up a great opportunity.
