San Jose State Football: Spartans Enter Coaches Poll, AP Top 25

A long time coming.
Two days after defeating the Nevada Wolf Pack to earn a spot in their first Mountain West championship game, the San Jose State Spartans are back in the Amway Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Top 25.
The Spartans landed at #25 in both rankings, the latest landmark in what has been one of the program’s most successful years ever. It’s the first time that San Jose State has been recognized in either ranking since the end of the 2012 season, when the Spartans finished the year #21 in both after going 11-2 in its final year in the WAC.
They’ll host the Mountain West football championship next weekend at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas against the Boise State Broncos. After finishing their regular season with a snowy 17-9 victory over Wyoming, Boise State continued to receive votes in both polls. In the coaches poll, the Broncos are 29th overall; in the AP poll, they are 28th. A win over the Spartans next Saturday could vault the Broncos back into the top 25 themselves, where they have not been since losing to BYU in early November.
