SJSU stays winless in conference play.
It’s been a tough season for San Jose State, to say the least, The Spartans are 2-8, still haven’t won a game against a Divison 1 opponent, and their best player Seneca Knight transferred to LSU last week.
Now getting into the full recap of this series.
It was a high scoring first half with SJSU leading by a score of 45-42 after a pair of late Richard Washington triples. In the 2nd half, Fresno State outscored San Jose State 37-19, and Orlando Robinson took over for Fresno State, with the Spartans post defense problems flaring up. San Jose State failed to make a single three-pointer after the first twenty minutes. Jean Prioleau had to be hoping his team didn’t bring the 2nd half performance into game two.
Unfortunately, this game was never even close. Fresno State came out swinging with a 16 point halftime lead, and they ended up winning 80-65. Dean Stroud led the Bulldogs with 22 points, with Jordan Campbell and Orlando Robinson also scoring in double figures. Richard Washington dropped 24 points, Ralph Agee had 14, and freshman Nate Lacewell hauled in ten rebounds.
Takeaways:
San Jose State besides the 2nd Boise State game, hasn’t played a full forty minutes. They’ve shown good halves, but their a young roster that hasn’t won much in College, there will be a ton of trial-and-error with this team trying to close game this season, but take small wins where you can get them and build upon it.
Orlando Robinson continues to be a monster. There are few better players in the country than Orlando Robinson, a 7-footer who’s athletic, and can shoot? He’s the Mountain West’s next first-round NBA draft pick.
