What are Chachere’s plans after San Jose State?

The 2017 San Jose State Spartans had a dismal football season. While it’s unclear if the hapless squad will rebound next year under second-year head coach Brent Brennan, we know one thing: Cornerback Andre Chachere will be heading to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., on January 20, 2018.

Like other plays on the team, Chachere didn’t have a fruitful senior year as a Spartan. The Spartans did hang on for a 20-17 win over the Wyoming Cowboys, but Chachere was ejected from the Senior Day game following a personal foul for targeting a Cowboys player. Chachere exited the game and blew kisses to the fans in the stands.

Despite the negativity thrown at Chachere, junior cornerback Dakari Monroe had some nice things to say about the senior during postgame. Monroe said, “Andre (Chachere) was very helpful in the process. As soon as I came here (SJSU) as a freshman, we kind of just bonded and we became good friends ever since and I’m just going to remember the energy and him being a really funny guy.”

Chachere was remembered as a talented cornerback even after he left the final game of his college career. Chachere has 122 total tackles (93 solo tackles, 29 assists), 169 interception yards, seven interceptions, 26 passes defended, 4.5 tackles for loss, three fumbles forced, one sack and one fumble recovered.

Chachere, a first-team All-MW pick last year, is a top tier cornerback. Chachere has demonstrated excellence on and off the field. Chachere’s heading to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, so he’s a draft-eligible player for the NFL. Hopefully, Chachere will make his way to the NFL in the near future.
