San Diego State vs. Sacramento State will not be televised.
San Diego State’s home opener against FCS Sacramento State is the only game to not appear on TV or streamed this season. If you are in Southern California, you will be able to listen on your car radio. The other option is to show up at SDCCU Stadium and stay for the annual fireworks display.
Things To Look (or Listen) For:
Every year when San Diego State schedules an FCS opponent, two teams are consistently brought up: Cal Poly 2008 and Eastern Illinois 2013. The two FCS teams that defeated San Diego State. It’s a bad memory to overcome for Aztec fans and the coaching staff. If San Diego State isn’t up by 2 scores at halftime, people will be on edge.
Christian Chapman’s stat line. At Stanford, Chapman went 10/15 for 113 yards. In 2017 against Stanford, he threw 21/29 for 187 yards and 1 touchdown. Chapman has a chance to build on his rapport with receivers against an FCS team. Expect Rocky Long let Chapman take more shots over the middle to further develop the receivers.
San Diego State is known for tough defensive football. It didn’t show up last week. When the Aztecs make plays and take the ball away good things happen. In 2017 that meant a 5-0 record when they were positive in turnovers, and 2-1 where they broke even. Does the defense play more aggressive against the FCS team?
