Kickoff between the San Diego State Aztecs and Eastern Michigan Eagles is at SDCCU Stadium on September 22nd at 10:30 ET and can be seen on CBS Sports Network.

Offense

In 2017, the Eagles were (5-7, 3-5 Mid American Conference) which was 5th in the West Division of the MAC. On offense, Eastern Michigan averaged 26.3 ppg. The Eagles return starting running back Ian Eriksen who rushed for 805 yards and 8 touchdowns. Even though the Eagles lose quarterback Brogan Roback who threw for 19 touchdowns, they landed Iowa grad transfer Tyler Wiegers. Even though losing their top three receivers, the Eagles return now Junior Wide receiver Matthew Sexton who had 357 yards and two touchdowns as a sophomore.

Defense

On the defense, Eastern Michigan returns Junior defensive back, Vince Calhoun. Calhoun had the second most tackles in 2017. The 185 pounder will be the guy to look out since star, senior linebacker Jason Beck for graduation. Also, another stud defensive player is Junior defensive back Brody Hoying who also tied with Calhoun with 78 tackles.  In 2017, Eastern Michigan allowed 23.3 ppg and is looking to allow fewer points to their opposition.

Overall

A strong candidate for Mountain West Offensive  Player of the Year in Juwan Washington and an older and now more experienced offensive line, and a defense that will be older and improved.  This game is leaning toward San Diego State. The Aztecs will control game of possession and will pull away in the second half, and the Aztecs should win by 14.

Final Score San Diego State 31, Eastern Michigan 17
