We crown the noble Lord of Kicksteros.

– Offensive player of the year | Defensive player of the year
– Freshman of the year | Newcomer of the year | Coordinator of the year

When we think of #collegekickers, football fans don’t tend to think in terms of positives. In San Diego, however, a cult hero has emerged as one of the nation’s best. And in a season of numerous close calls, the San Diego State Aztecs needed every bit of his contributions.

John Baron II is Mountain West Wire’s selection as the conference’s special teams player of the year.

The Temecula native was perfect on extra points this fall, going 27-for-27, and he went 17-of-22 on field goal attempts. Baron was also nails in crunch time, finishing the regular season with three game-winning field goals (kicked in the last five minutes or in overtime) and 5-of-5 on attempts of 50 yards or more.

Others receiving votes: Savon Scarver, Utah State; Blake Cusick, Fresno State; Cooper Rothe, Wyoming Ryan Stonehouse, Colorado State
