Matt Bradley led the way with 26 points

The San Diego State Aztecs hosted the undefeated 20th ranked Colorado State Rams on short notice Saturday afternoon and absolutely dominated the Rams in the second half to run away with a 30 point win. The Aztecs had five players finish with double digit point.

In a foul fest the entire game, 43 fouls were called in the game, San Diego State pulled away in a second half rout of the Rams. The Aztecs held the Rams to 23.8% shooting in the second half, including no made threes. Colorado State usually averages around 10 turnovers per game, San Diego State forced them into 17 turnovers today.

Matt Bradley led the way with 26 points, finally showing his Cal form that had so many Aztec fans excited when he transferred into the program. Bradley was joined in double figures by Chad Baker-Mazara (14 points), Lamont Butler (11 points), Keshad Johnson (10 points), and Aguek Arop (10 points).

Colorado State couldn’t buy a bucket in this game. In their worst shooting performance of the season the Rams only had three players score more than 2 points. Kendle Moore wasn’t one of those four, but he was the only other Ram to make a field goal in this game.

The Aztecs length caused problems for this Rams squad. They couldn’t get going as San Diego State had an answer for anything CSU threw at them. The Rams were held to 27.9% from the field, 15% from three, but did shoot 84.6% from the line. The Rams free throws kept this game from getting even more out of hand. 22 of Colorado State’s 49 points came from the charity stripe.

Isaiah Stevens led the way for the Rams with 19 points. David Roddy joined him in double figures with 17 points. John Tonje was the only other Ram to score more than two points and he finished with eight points.

The Rams were out muscled in this game and they couldn’t get the ball moving. The Aztecs out rebounded the Rams 38-24 and finished with a nine assist advantage 14-5. The rust was evident early for both squads, but the Aztecs were clearly able to shake it off quicker.
