On Friday, June 8, San Diego State announced a pair of home-and-home series with Missouri. The initial leg of the home-and-home would begin in 2027 hosting the visiting Missouri Tigers.
Then in 2028, the Aztecs go to Columbia, Missouri, and the final legs would start in 2031 at Missouri and culminate at San Diego in 2032 — seesh that is a long ways away when you think about it.

The Aztecs have secured their non-conference opponents for the next 5 years including Pac-12 programs on their slate. Missouri is the only power-5 program not in the western time zone to be on the books.
One has to note that former San Diego State athletic director (AD) Jim Sterk, who helped strike a deal to move SDSU out of the Mountain West in 2012, has been the Missouri athletic director since 2016 and current Aztecs AD, John David Wicker, is a Sterk disciple. It’s smart to structure this deal now with a favorable AD than take your chances on a volatile college football landscape.
With the uncertainty of future realignment and revenue sharing, we won’t know the numbers immediately. Yet, the ever-increasing budgetary gap between schools like SDSU and the Power-5 schools continues to expand. Having a big-budget school, especially an SEC-school, guarantees them a payday in 2027.
If the numbers bum you out, consider that the 2027 Aztecs — many would be born around 2009 — wouldn’t remember the phantom block in the back that sealed a Missouri Tigers victory in 2010.
