San Jose State hasn’t won a game since December 21, 2017, in Santa Clara
The San Jose State Spartans first walked into the Viejas Arena early Tuesday night to begin preparation for a Mountain West game against the San Diego State Aztecs late Wednesday night.

The game was extremely lopsided as San Jose State (3-12; 0-4 MW) faced off against San Diego State (10-4; 2-1 MW). The Spartans really wanted to pick up a conference win against the Aztecs, but it didn’t come easy.
The game was broadcasted on CBS Sports Network, which helped the Spartans gather extra attention from the masses. Prior to the first media timeout, SJSU was up 8-6 at the 15:36 mark of the first half.
Ashtin Chastain generated some headlines when he accepted a pass from Noah Baumann and made an unbelievable shot from the three-point line to put the Spartans up 11-8 at the 14:01 mark of the first.

The Spartans had a cold streak, but Ryan Welage helped break that cold streak with four points and five boards.
Despite Welage’s efforts, San Jose State continued to trail San Diego State 32-23 at halftime. Keith Fisher III led all Spartans with six points, four rebounds and one steal. Welage ranked second with four points and eight rebounds.
Spartans’ Ashtin Chastain made the first basket of the second half. However, the Aztecs went on a 13-0 run for a 45-25 lead at the 15:51 mark of the second.
As if things weren’t bad enough, Aztecs’ Malik Pope tied for the team-high in points with 11 as his team led the Spartans by 23 (50-27) at the 11:25 mark of the second.
Welage was the primary bright spot for the Spartans in a lopsided loss to the Aztecs. Welage joined the 1,000 point club, standing with 14 other SJSU players in the school’s history.
The Spartans trailed the Aztecs by 40 (85-45) with less than a minute left in regulation and they were called out for unsportsmanlike conduct, which wasn’t cool at all.
The Spartans went on a 6-0 run to close out the game, but it didn’t make a huge difference as the Aztecs breezed to a 85-49 win at home.
