Tennessee Transfer Still Suspended

“He’s still suspended,” was what Colorado State head coach Mike Bobo said in response to transfer wide receiver Preston Williams status.

The hope was that Williams, a transfer from Tennessee who sat out last season, would replace Biletnikoff Finalist Michael Gallup and be a major weapon for the Rams this fall.

Williams pleaded guilty to the assault charge on Jan. 23 and received a deferred sentence. While he did participate in spring practice, he was still going through a University mandated process related to the assault charge.

Williams was a five-star recruit coming out of Georgia. He spent two years at Tennessee and scored two touchdowns while accounting for 247 yards receiving. With his status unclear, Bobo must find someone to compliment junior wideout Olabisi Johnson.
