Draft day is nearing, what makes Cedrik Wilson stand out?
Cedrick Wilson’s name will sound familiar to some NFL fans as his father, by the same name, was a six-round NFL Draft pick back in 2001 by the San Francisco 49ers and also won a Super Bowl with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Junior plays the same position as pops, wide receiver, and could be drafted a bit earlier as early as the third-round in a best-case scenario situation.
Wilson is a former high school quarterback and has just four years of wide receiver experience with two years at a junior college and the other two in the Mountain West with Boise State. Each year as a wide receiver he made a ton of plays and earned awards as All-American honors in JUCO and all-league Mountain West honors.
In his two-year Boise State career, he had 119 catches, 2,740 yards, and 18 touchdowns. He also had a hand in the return game as a junior with 10 attempts, so that versatility will help out in the NFL.

Strengths: His dad being an NFL player for seven years is an obvious plus as he inherits those gifts from his dad. Making the switch from a productive high school quarterback to an elite wide receiver shows he has great potential once he gets on an NFL roster and puts the work in.
His height at 6-5 makes him a huge target for the red zone and key third-down plays by towering over the typically smaller defensive backs. He is a downfield threat, great route runner and can create separation to make plays.
Weaknesses: While he has speed, that first step off the line of scrimmage is not great and can allow defensive backs to jam him or knock Wilson off of his projected path. This leads to a second weakness which is when he does get knocked off his route he has a hard time adjusting. While he had a lot of deep catches, there are some issues with him making adjustments in finding the ball if it is either under or overthrown.
Best Fit: Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Falcons
NFL Comparison: Johnny Holton
Round Projection: 4th round
