Musselman will hope to have Martin back in time for Monday’s showdown with Rhode Island

Nevada forward Caleb Martin is out indefinitely with a turf toe complication, sources reported.

Martin is a North Carolina State transfer and brother of Cody Martin, both of which are expected to make considerable contributions to this year’s Nevada team. The two combined to average 17.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists for the N.C. State Wolfpack during the 2015-16 season.

Martin was a full participant in Nevada’s exhibition on October 29 against Stanislaus State. He played 35 minutes, scoring 20 points and adding five assists in the 100-83 victory.

Sources had told MWC Wire prior to the October 29 matchup that Caleb Martin was “back to 100%,” though reports earlier that week showed that Martin’s first issues with the turf toe had flared up. Martin also played 37 minutes in the October 22 exhibition against Grand Canyon.

It is unknown when Martin will return from his injury, as he sat out Friday night’s exhibition against Dominican.

Head coach Eric Musselman will hope that Martin can return in time for Monday’s showdown with Atlantic 10 favorite Rhode Island, which is one of the most important games on Nevada’s non-conference schedule.
