Nevada stuns San Diego State on Homecoming Night

Going into Saturday’s game between San Diego State and Nevada, the Aztecs were 17 point favorites but the majority of Aztec fans didn’t think San Diego State was going to win by that much. However, they didn’t win at all and lost 13-17 to Nevada.
The scoring took a while to get started. The scoring began later in the first quarter. The Wolf Pack were the first to get on the board. When Nevada kicker Brandon Talton made a field goal from 34 yards with about 3:22 left in the first quarter. Early in the second quarter, the Aztecs answered with a 21-yard field goal by Matt Ariaza. At halftime it was tied at three.
The Wolf Pack started with the ball to start the second half and that proved to be very important. The Wolf Pack scored the first touchdown of the game on 13-yard pass from Carson Strong to Elijah Cooks that took 7:48 minutes to happen. The answered back with a touchdown of their own when running back Chance Bell ran it in from three yards that capped off a 14 play 71-yard drive.
The Wolf Pack took the lead right back with about 10:31 left in the game when running back Devontae Lee scored from one yard away. The Aztecs kicked a field goal with 3:46 left that brought the game to 13-17 Nevada but that was the closest they could get it and Nevada came out with the win.
Next week, San Diego State (7-2, 4-2) welcomes Fresno State for a Friday night matchup while Nevada (6-4,3-3) has a bye week next week before traveling to face Fresno State on the 23rd.
