Solano could be back for league play
The battle for the Nevada Wolf Pack quarterback starting position just lost a player as Cristian Solano injured his throwing hand.

This loss means that Solano will not be the starting quarterback and even if he comes back sometime in October for league play it would be hard for him to take over whoever is starting under center.
Wolf Pack head coach Jay Norvell already spoke at fall camp about waiting to name a starter until the middle of August.
“I think we’re right where we want to be,” Norvell said via Nevada Sports Net. “We said early on as a staff we have three really good players. I think we’ll name a starting quarterback in mid-August.

“We wanted to give them eight weeks in the summer to prove to their teammates that they deserved to be the starter and then we wanted them to go out and prove that in training camp. We’re right on schedule. The guy who ends up being the quarterback, our entire team will know who that is. It won’t be a secret.”
That is now down to two players in Malik Henry who started his career at Florida Stae and his most known for his appearance on Netflix’s Last Chance U and redshirt freshman Carson Strong.
Solano was splitting first team reps with the Henry and Strong but being a redshirt senior and having actual FBS starting experience, but it was one game last year against Fresno State and that is a lot more than the other two.
This puts the Wolf Pack in a fairly big bind since Solano had been in Norvell’s system for a few years despite playing very little, the other two have far less experience with Strong having one career pass completition against Portland State in the 2018 season opener for Nevada.
