Nevada Football: Wolf Pack Demolished By Oregon 77-6
Turnovers, sloppy play and a red-hot Justin Herbert were the ingredient for the Wolf Pack getting hammered 77-6 in Eugene.

Wolf Pack Hammered By Ducks 77-6
It was a close game to start and Nevada looked like they could give the #16 Oregon Ducks a fight and possibly pull off the upset.
Then the wheels fell off for the Wolf Pack.
Everything went wrong for Nevada as the Wolf Pack got blitzed by Oregon 77-6 in Autzen Stadium on Saturday. The Wolf Pack’s offense was virtually non-existent as they totaled only 192 yards of total offense and scored only six points which came off of two Brandon Talton field goals.
Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert threw for 310 yards and had five passing touchdowns (four in the first half) and the Oregon offense torched the Wolf Pack defense for 623 yards of total offense.The Wolf Pack who didn’t turn over the ball last week in their win over Purdue turned the ball over four times against the Ducks. It was just a total no-show by the Wolf Pack in Eugene.
For Nevada, the game started off promising as the Wolf Pack special teams recovered a muffed punt by Oregon. After that turnover a few plays later, Nevada was able to score off of that turnover when Brandon Talton connected on a 26 yard field goal to put Nevada up 3-0.
Oregon came right back and scored when Justin Herbert connected with tight end Jacob Breeland on a 66 yard touchdown pass to put Oregon up 7-3. On Nevada’s next possession in the second quarter, the Wolf Pack went for it on fourth and 11 and converted to keep the drive going. A few plays later, the Wolf Pack scored when Talton connected once again on a field goal but this time for 45 yards out to make it 7-6 Oregon.
On Oregon’s next possession, they scored again when running back CJ Verdell scored on a two yard touchdown run to put Oregon up 14-6. On Nevada’s next possession, Nevada turned the ball over when Sampson Niu picked off Carson Strong’s pass to give the Ducks the ball. Two plays later, Oregon scored when Herbert connected with tight end Ryan Bay for a 16 yard touchdown pass to put Nevada up 21-6.
After Nevada botched a punt and Oregon got the ball deep in Wolf Pack territory, the Ducks scored again when Herbert connected with tight end Brady Aiello for a one yard touchdown to put the Ducks up 28-6. Oregon scored one more time late in the first half when Herbert recorded his fourth touchdown pass of the first half when he connected with Brryan Addison for a 24 yard touchdown pass to put the Ducks up 35-6.
In the second half, it was more of the same as the Ducks poured on the points against the Wolf Pack and the 77 points Oregon scored was tied for the most points scored in the history of Autzen Stadium. It was a game in which Nevada played well to start but just fell into a trap of poor execution and turnovers.
“We started off fairly strong in the second quarter, we made too many mental errors,” said Nevada head coach Jay Norvell. Norvell went on to say that “we gave up too many easy plays in pass coverage and we’ve got to do a better job of that.”
The Wolf Pack must regroup after this ugly, brutal loss and it starts next week as they return home to face the Weber State Wildcats next Saturday.
