As a junior, look for Nixon to have his strongest season yet in a Ram uniform

Checking in a #7 in the MWC Wire Top 25 Basketball Countdown is Colorado State Rams guard Prentiss Nixon.

As the third offensive option on last year’s CSU team that nearly reached the NCAA Tournament, Nixon averaged 13.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Nixon ranked in the conference’s top 10 in games played, minutes played, minutes per game, field goal attempts, three-point field goal attempts, free throws, and free throw percentage.

Nixon wasn’t overly efficient last season with a 38.0% field goal percentage, but he has shown glimpses that he can be an offensive force over the next two seasons. He hit a number of clutch, much-needed shots last season during CSU’s pursuit of the MWC title, and will see a larger workload now that Gian Clavell and Emmanuel Omogbo have moved on.

The Bolingbrook, Illinois native also plays solid defense. He recorded 30 steals last season and, despite standing at just 6-1, also blocked four shot attempts. Look for Nixon to evolve into one of the better two-way players in the league as his role expands as an upperclassman.
