Another transfer for SJSU.
San Jose State will once again be taking a blow this offseason as it is losing one of it’s best players to the transfer market. Junior Michael Steadman has reportedly opened up his recruitment. The former San Francisco city college transfer and San Jose State top-scorer will have one final year of edibility left wherever he decides to go.
“I felt like I just needed a fresh start somewhere,” Steadman said in a statement. “I just felt like I needed to leave.”
He also thanked Spartans fans for their support this past year.
“I really appreciated them throughout the season,” he said. “I enjoyed my time while I was a Spartan and I wish the program the best.”
As if San Jose State was not already in rebuilding mode, this loss will set back a program that was already behind. The Spartans the last few seasons have had so much instability especially following the 16-17 season where they went 14-16 and looked to be making momentum but ended up losing its coach and potential NBA player Brandon Clarke.
Clarke was the first of a number of players to transfer as Coach Prioleau lost Ryan Welage, Keith Fisher, and Jayce Hillman after his first season as head coach in the 17-18 season. The state of the program in San Jose once again looks very bleak heading into the 19-20 season.
