Who voted who?

The USA TODAY and the Associated Press top 25 polls are basically for show since the only top 25 that matters is the College Football Playoff rankings.

However, the final USA TODAY poll has the coaches reveal its ballot, and there are five Mountain West coaches involved. Let’s look over its ballots and how they ranked the Mountain West counterparts.

The Mountain West had three teams ranked in the final poll after the regular season with Fresno State leading the way at 21, then Utah State at 23 then Boise State at No. 24.

Jeff Tedford, Fresno State: The only Mountain West team he ranked has his own Bulldogs team at No. 16. He did rank Army and Cincinnati at the tail end of his ballot at 24th and 25th. Not sure why that was the case since his Bulldogs defeated the Broncos in overtime.

Rocky Long, San Diego State: Long put the Mountain West champion Fresno State Bulldogs at No. 16, but he did also put Boise State and Utah State in the top 20 at No. 19 and No. 20.

Bryan Harsin, Boise State: With the Mountain West title game being so close, Harsin placed Fresno State just one spot higher than his Boise State team at No. 19 and then No. 20, and he put Utah State at the 23rd position.

Jay Norvell, Nevada: The Wolf Pack head coach ranked just two Mountain West teams. Fresno State earned his No. 21 spot and then Boise State was at No. 25.

Troy Calhoun, Air Force: The Falcons head coach also ranked both Mountain West teams from the title game by placing Fresno State at No. 19 and then Boise State a few spots behind them at No. 22. He also ranked Utah State at No. 23. Calhoun also was the highest on Central Florida — along with Middle Tennessee State’s Brent Stockstill — and put them at No. 4.
