Hawaii’s Cole McDonald Played With A Very Uncomfortable Injury

Hawaii quarterback Cole McDonald is a stud on the football field with his amazing numbers he put up in 2018, but he is now elevated to a whole new level by playing through some pretty serious injuries.
His first injury was not all that bad with a knee sprain but the second one, is, well, be cautious when reading what comes below via the Maui News.
“First game I strained my MCL, played through that,” McDonald said. “First quarter against San Jose State I took a shot to the side. The guy that hit me actually knocked himself out.”
With lingering pain from the SJSU game, he later went to the hospital for extra tests “and I had some internal bleeding in my side that didn’t drain out properly. It was all in my scrotum. … I couldn’t walk for about a week. … I played hurt most of the season. It was pretty brutal.”
Ouch indeed.
McDonald ended up only missing one game all year which was the Wyoming which featured a stand-in during warmups trying to trick the opposing team coaches that McDonald was healthy and going to play. Now, we now the circumstances of him missing the game vs. the Cowboys.

If McDonald was to play as well as he did in the second half of the year with a pretty sever injury, just imagine how good he will be in 2019 by being fully healthy and another yea in Nick Rolovich‘s pass-happy offense.
