It’s next man up for the Rams.

The Colorado State Rams have lost their projected starting quarterback for the year. According the CSU Rams website Collin Hill tore the ACL in his left knee playing basketball. This is the same ACL he tore in the 2016 season against Utah State.

A week before spring camp was to start, the Rams now have to evaluate their options. The Rams didn’t bring in a QB in their 2018 recruiting class. But they have 3 quarterbacks on the roster; Redshirt Junior J.C. Robles, redshirt freshman Justice McCoy, and walk on redshirt freshman Judd Erickson.

The Rams could also look to bring in a graduate transfer. A couple of uncommitted grad transfer QBs are still available. A couple of names that appear at the top of this list are Wilton Speight, who could return to Michigan. Jacob Park from Iowa State, although he was dealing with some unspecified medical issues during last season.

And one, Quinten Dormady. Dormady would be coming from Tennessee. Dormady and Rams defensive coordinator John Jancek overlapped in their time with the Volunteers and Jancek’s son is a walk-on QB for the Volunteers.

Some other names available for graduate transfer include Jalan McClendon (North Carolina State), Evan Shirreffs (Miami [FL]), Jeff George (Illinois), Tucker Israel (Clemson), J.J. Consentino (Florida State), Ryan Boyle (Iowa), Brandon Dawkins (Arizona), and Chris Chugunov (West Virginia).

The Rams outlook has certainly been lowered. Even if Hill was healthy the Rams were looking at a drop off. After losing Michael Gallup, Nick Stevens, Dalyn Dawkins, and a few offensive linemen, the offense was going to take a little bit to get up to speed. Now it could be a long season for the Rams. But as Mike Bobo says, next man up.
