Colorado State on the upswing?

The Fresno State Bulldogs can’t wait to get back to California.

The Dogs went to Fort Collins for a two-game series- the norm for the 2020-2021 season for the Mountain West- and got beat bad in both games.

Strangely enough, Fresno State lost each of the two games by 22 points.

On Monday, the Rams won 75-53 and on Wednesday they won 81-59.

Colorado State shot 48% from the field and 42% from beyond the arc on Monday.

David Roddy led the way for the Rams with 19 points and 13 boards, and followed up his performance on Wednesday with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

The Rams shot an even more impressive 52% clip from the field on Wednesday night, and 40% from 3-point land.

For Fresno State, the offense really struggled in both games. Orlando Robinson was the only bright spot for the Dogs in both contests. Robinson had 14 points with 10 boards and then had 19 and 15 on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs shot 40% from the field on Monday and an abysmal 17% from 3-point land. The Dogs followed it up with a 34% mark from the field and a little more improved 20% clip from beyond the arc.

The Bulldogs are going to have a tough season, and Robinson is going to be asked to do a lot on both ends of the floor. It’s still early, but Fresno State looks like a bottom tier team in the conference.

Perhaps Fresno State is just getting going since they had to sit out for a couple weeks due to COVID protocols.

The Bulldogs will head home to take on Wyoming on Saturday and Monday. For Colorado State, they will head to California as well, but to take on San Diego State.
