Colorado State Football Midseason Report
Maybe the expectations were too high for Colorado State. Many, including this writer, thought the Rams were going to contend for the Mountain West title this season. The loss of 13 starters, a new defensive system, and some horrible performances have put a damper on that.
The Rams record currently stands at 2-4 and they are 1-1 in the Mountain West. The CSU running game finally got going against San Jose State, putting 219 rushing yards together. The Rams also almost gave that game away, before sealing the victory at the end.
The Rams just need to put everything on the table for the rest of the season. Bowl eligibility is a pipe dream at the moment. If CSU can get there, hats off to them. But, Colorado State just needs to focus on putting a complete game together right now.
Have preseason expectations changed?
Uhh, yeah they have. The Rams were expected to be a contender for the Mountain West title this season. CSU lost their leading passer, receiver, running back, and the majority of their offensive line from last season. They have also implemented a new defensive system.
My expectation for the Rams is that they won’t finish last in the Mountain. They look to have a little chance in a couple of games, but we’ll see how CSU responds the rest of the year.
