The Week One Depth Chart Is Here
Ahead of the final Rocky Mountain Showdown in Denver, head coach Mike Bobo has released the Rams depth chart for the week. And there are a couple of surprises out there.
The Youth at Offensive Line
Out of the ten positions on the two deep, only four are occupied by upperclassmen. That leaves six positions, on the most integral part of this Rams offense, in the hands of six sophomores and freshman.
The big surprise here is Nouredin Nouili starting at left guard. The freshman from Germany has only played American Football for a few years, but obviously has quickly earned the trust of the CSU coaches and is going to be thrown into the fire against the Colorado Buffaloes.
No Sign of Nate Craig-Myers
There were rumblings that the Auburn transfer could possibly receive a waiver to be eligible for all of this season. Instead, it looks like the junior receiver will have to wait until the Rams fourth game against Toledo to get back on the field.
While unlikely at this stage, there is a slight possibility he could still be cleared. If he’s not cleared, expect Craig-Myers to come out firing when given the all clear signs against the Rockets.
Toby McBride Moves Inside On The Defensive Line
Toby McBride had a great start to his CSU career at the defensive end position before a back injury kept him off the field for almost two full seasons. He looks to be back with a vengeance and new position.
The surprise here is his new position. McBride has moved inside to defensive tackle, which could potentially put more strain on his back. McBride is one of the strongest guys on the team and if his back holds up, he can bring a fierceness that has been missing from the defensive line for a while.
There are a couple other surprises including Justice McCoy being listed as co-backup QB and the potential revolving door at kicker. But the three listed are the ones that stand out the most as the Rams prepare for the Rocky Mountain Showdown.
