How high can SDSU go?
The new Associated Press Top 25 rankings were released Monday morning and San Diego State should be pleasantly surprised with their rankings.
The undefeated Aztecs jumped from 24 to 18 in the AP poll, just days after beating 23 Arizona State in Tempe. In the coaches poll, San Diego State No. 20.

The good news? The Aztecs did move up quite a bit.
The bad news? They could probably be ranked higher.
Coach Dutcher’s team now owns two wins against Top-25 teams at the time-UCLA and Arizona State, both of whom had dropped out come Monday morning.
The Aztecs have yet to start conference play due to canceled games against Colorado State due to COVID issues. However, State has a huge opportunity to solidify its ranking and continue to ascend towards the top 10 in the coming couple of weeks.

The Aztecs will take on BYU in a rare Friday afternoon home game in San Diego, and then will take on St. Mary’s in a neutral-court matchup at San Luis Obispo.
The Cougars and the Gaels have a combined 12-3 record in the early stages of this season, and a pair of victories before heading into Mountain West Conference play should be enough to warrant a top-10 ranking for the Aztecs.
On another note, Jordan Schakel earned Player of the Week honors from Andy Katz, after dropping 25 points in the 12-point victory over the Sun Devils on Thursday night.
The Aztecs are- once again, legitimate, and will be a tough team to take down as the season progresses.
