Can Wyoming get the upset?

The Boise State Broncos are in the position to make it to another Mountain West title game if they can defeat the Wyoming Cowboys at their place. The Broncos have a 13-1 record over the Cowboys all time and are a huge favorite on Saturday afternoon.

One of the big storylines is that Boise State might be getting back starting running back George Holani could be back after missing most of the year due to a leg injury.

“It’s been really good having him back,” fellow running back Andrew Van Buren said this week. “I’m glad George is back and healthy. I can’t wait to see what he goes out there and does.”

Van Buren has been the starter the past few weeks but he is not as good as a back as Holani. Boise State is better when Holani is in the backfield and arguably the most important offensive player on the field.

As for Wyoming, running back Xazavian Valladay might be out again but it may not matter as Trey Smith has done a great job running the ball to career highs in back-to-back weeks. This battle in the trenches is going to be a big one for who comes out on top.

However, even if Wyoming runs the ball well they need to get some good production from their quarterback which is undetermined at this point. Levi Williams who hurt his sholder last week returned to practice but coach Craig Bohl is unsure.

“We don’t know if he’s going to be able to throw very well today,” Bohl said. “We’ll see, but there is no structural damage in that shoulder. It is sore obviously. That’s a concern when you have a quarterback that’s a right-handed quarterback.”

If Williams can go then Gavin Beerup will get the start and he was unimpressive in the two series he played in last week. If the Cowboys want a chance to win they need Williams to be on the field and play his best game of the year.
