Why Boise State Will Win
Boise State is back on the road hoping to avenge last year’s devastating loss to Oregon, a game in which the Broncos led by as many as 14 points but couldn’t close late in the game. Dana Altman’s team, fresh off a Final Four appearance, returns very little from its special 2016-17 season, but welcomed a handful of talented newcomers in the offseason. Boise State needs to get off to a strong start and learn quickly how to be comfortable in a hostile environment. The Ducks will look to push the pace (24th in the nation in fastest average possession length) and score from the perimeter (49th in three-point attempt rate). Oregon’s lack of size down low could allow the Broncos to pick up a handful of easy buckets inside. The previous two matchups between these teams have been decided by a total of seven points.
