Seminoles are not coming to Boise

Boise State is the latest team from the Mountain West to lose a scheduled game against the ACC. The Broncos had a huge game at home no less as they were to host Florida State in Week 3 of this season.

The game was in question once the Pac-12 and Big Ten the other games vs. Power 5 are in jeopardy from happening. Now it has hit Boise State with the ACC going with a 10-game league slate and the one out of conference game is a home game or an in-state foe.

The odds of the Broncos going back to Florida to play the Seminoles is slim to none for both fairness and COVID-19 reasons.

The big question is will Florida State ever return this game to Boise State? The earliest both teams have room on the schedule is 2024. However, Florida State is more open than the Broncos, as the Seminoles have one spot open from 2021-23 and three open slots in ’24. So, there could be some adjustments to get that game sooner than later, but who knows if this game ever gets played down the road.

As for what Boise State could do for 2020 to get to 12 games, assuming that amount of games, is complicated.

The Broncos could do a road game vs. an ACC team that has a spot open but that seems unlikely, they could play an FCS team like Idaho (ducks flying objects from Broncos fans), or some random Group of Five team.

The Pac-12 is doing league only games, SEC is looking to the do the same, the Big 12 could be an option as commissioner Bob Bowlsby wants a full slate but that would take some work to get games.

If Boise State were to get another home game it would be an FCS team or another Group of Five team. However, who knows if there will even be non-conference games.
