Hutchison recorded his 12th career double-double

After a forgettable offensive performance against UTEP on Thursday, Boise State responded with a thunderous 82-64 blowout of Illinois State Friday afternoon in Myrtle Beach.

Chandler Hutchison shrugged off his poor outing Thursday with a 19-point, 18-rebound double-double. Hutchison was just 1-11 from the field until the final minute in the quarterfinals, but notched his 12th career double-double well before halftime on Friday. He was 5/13 on field goal attempts and also added eight points via the free throw line.

As a team, Boise State was lights-out from deep. The Broncos poured in 12 of their 27 three-point attempts, while Illinois State 8/34 from deep with most of its triples coming in the closing minutes.

Seven BSU players finished in double figures. Marcus Dickinson led the team in scoring for the second consecutive day with 20 points, then came Chandler Hutchison (19), Justinian Jessup (18), David Wacker (15), Cam Christon (11), Christian Sengfelder (10) and Alex Hobbs (10). Boise State assisted on 16 of its 22 made field goals.

Keyshawn Evans had 21 points for Illinois State, which has been using a short rotation due to injuries. Illinois State’s best front court player, Milik Yarbrough, had limited minutes due to early foul trouble.

Next up for Boise State is the Puerto Rico Tip-Off At Myrtle Beach championship game. The Broncos will take on either Iowa State or Tulsa on Sunday at 4:30pm PT on ESPN2.
