Senior Bowl week is a huge deal for any potential draft prospect and getting an invite all but assures one of being drafted in a few months. The practices are the most valuable to be seen by NFL coaches and scouts.
The practices are the main event and the best way to get noticed, go up against the top competition in the country.
There are so many covering the Senior Bowl it is hard to keep up with what is going on and who is doing well, or not so well.
Some of these Mountain West players will get a big bump from being on this stage, even though they are likely household names among us cool kids who have been following them for years.
Carson Strong, Nevada, QB
When the National Team took the field, from the play-fake footwork drill to the end of the team period, Strong was clearly the best deep passer—both in the context of arm strength and accuracy—and showed the highest level of confidence and an unrivaled command over the offense that helped give him the edge. When it comes to “it” factor, one of the things we’ve talked about most this season is his deep ball down the sideline, something that was also unsurprisingly on display.

Romeo Doubs, Nevada, WR
In Tuesday’s practice, with a combination of Pitt’s Kenny Pickett, Cincinnati’s Desmond Ridder, and his own Carson Strong throwing to him, Doubs was smooth as silk. He made plays during a variety of drills, and while it’s still early in the week (wide receiver play will improve as timing with quarterbacks progresses), there’s no doubt he’s in the mix to be the best overall skill player on either roster.
“The meeting was great. I loved meeting with the Patriots,” said Doubs. “I was able to show off my personality and who I am to them both as a young man and a football player. So, it was awesome.’’
Gotta catch this one:

Trey McBride, Colorado State, TE
Tight end is a crucial position in Mike LaFleur’s west coast offense. The Jets got enough out of their running backs — namely Michael Carter — to have a viable play-action passing game, but that was a non-starter with no strong pass-catching tight end on the roster.
McBride has the ability to change that and give Zach Wilson a target he can turn to in play-action situations.
