The 2022 NFL Draft Season Has Started, Where Does Carson Strong Fit In The NFL Draft Picture.
The 2022 NFL draft is three months away and will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The draft will be the moment where the college stars will hope to hear their names called by an NFL team.
One of those college players who hopes to have his name called is former Nevada quarterback Carson Strong.
While this year’s NFL draft is lacking the star power of a Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields or Zach Wilson, Carson Strong is looking to separate himself from the rest of the quarterbacks eligible for the draft through his play in the Senior Bowl, the NFL combine and workouts.
Strong’s journey to a top 2022 NFL quarterback prospect is a long and interesting one. Strong was the first commitment for Nevada’s 2018 recruiting class and the following year was involved in a QB battle with three other quarterbacks to start the 2019 season.
Strong played in 10 games in his 2019 campaign and despite the slow start, Strong did complete 63 percent of his passes and threw for 2,335 yards and 11 touchdowns. Strong’s performance was good enough to be named one of the Mountain West Newcomers of the Year for 2019.
In the 2020 season, Strong improved impressively as he completed 70 percent of his passes and threw for 2,858 yards and 27 touchdowns while only throwing four interceptions. Strong’s numbers and play was so impressive that he won Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year and was named to the 2020 All-Mountain West Team and the Davey O’Brien Award Quarterback Class for 2020.
In his third and final season for the Wolf Pack, Strong had off-season knee surgery and spent the season wearing a brace which affected his mobility. Despite those issues, Strong had his best season with Nevada. Strong threw for 4,175 yards, completed 70 percent of his passes and threw for 36 touchdowns. Strong set program records for single season passing touchdowns and single game completions by completing 49 passes in a contest against Fresno State.
For Strong’s impressive third season, Strong won for the second straight season Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year and was named to the All-Mountain West Team for the second straight season.
Now after an impressive career at Nevada, Strong is looking forward to hearing his name being called in the 2022 NFL Draft. And as the mock drafts are being released en masse this time of year, it is always interesting and entertaining to see where college prospects are projected to be drafted and what round.
Here are some of where the mock drafts at this stage of the draft process have projected where Carson Strong will be drafted.
College Football News has projected Carson Strong to be drafted by the Detroit Lions with a late first round pick.
Draft Wire’s three round mock draft predicts Strong to the Denver Broncos with the 63rd pick of the second round.
Pro Football Network has also projected Carson Strong to the Broncos in their three-round mock draft but with the ninth overall pick.
Dane Brugler of The Athletic predicts Strong to be drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the second round.
These mock drafts posted about that have projections as to where Strong may get drafted are early. We still have the Senior Bowl, the NFL Combine and various other events that could change Strong’s draft status.
