Strong is moving on.

The Nevada football program has undergone a significant transition since the conclusion of the regular season, but the Wolf Pack may feel just a little bit differently about the latest departure.

In his latest appearance on Nevada Sports Net, Nevada quarterback Carson Strong announced his intent to bow out of the upcoming Quick Lane Bowl and begin preparations for next year’s NFL Draft. He isn’t the first member of this year’s Wolf Pack to make that move as tight end Cole Turner did so last week, but Strong’s decision is perhaps the biggest loss of the ongoing exodus from Reno.

In the conversation with Chris Murray, Strong acknowledged confidence that he didn’t have “much left to prove to myself or anyone in college”, a belief that’s hard to refute after finishing his collegiate career with a 68.1% completion rate, 9,379 passing yards, and 74 touchdowns on 1,252 total attempts.

Nevada will likely turn to backup Nate Cox against Western Michigan in the Quick Lane Bowl. On the season, Cox has completed 14-of-20 passes for 158 yards and one touchdown. The full conversation between Strong and Murray will be broadcast on Nevada Sports Net at 5:00 PM on Wednesday.
