An example of things to come at UNLV?
The UNLV Rebels were forced into the unenviable position of starting over in the midst of a pandemic last fall, but in spite of the hectic off-season shuffling and dearth of wins, you don’t have to look too hard to see where some things went right in 2020.
Case in point: Jacoby Windmon, who came into the program as a three-star recruit in Tony Sanchez’s 2019 class, played his way onto the field every week later that year, and earned a starting job for new head coach Marcus Arroyo and defensive coordinator Peter Hansen in 2020. In just six games, Windmon collected 6.5 tackles for loss and five sacks to go along with 39 total tackles, earning an honorable mention as an all-conference performer at season’s end.
While the Rebels may still have questions to address elsewhere on its defense, Windmon could take another step forward while moving from the edge to the interior and begin making his case as the best UNLV defender of the past decade or so.
