The Spartans and Bulldogs open Mountain West play tonight in San Jose. San Jose State is coming off a 30 point loss at Saint Mary’s in which they turned the ball over 19 times and shot only 32%. The Spartans previously looked better in close losses at Stanford and at Cal, turnovers were still an issue but the Spartans shot the ball at a much higher percentage and kept the rebound margin close. San Jose will need to play a clean game against Fresno State who comes in ranked 65 in the KenPom Rankings and also has Deshon Taylor most likely returning tonight.

The Bulldogs had won 7 in a row before losing their last game at home to Utah Valley. The Wolverines used their size to score 40 points in the paint against Fresno, in what was a close game throughout. If the Bulldogs play their game and are mentally focused they should take care of a less talented San Jose squad. Although if the Spartans hang around by outrebounding Fresno, feeding Michael Steadman inside, and getting open looks for Noah Baumann, who is 2nd in the nation in 3 point shooting percentage, they may have a chance at home to surprise some people.
