The big news about this game is that it is still being played in San Jose even though the air quality is bad and the Cal vs. Stanford game — which is just under 50 miles north — is being canceled. The game is being pushed up two hours and will kick at 1 p.m. local time.
As for the game itself, Nevada has been quietly one of the better teams the past month and still have a shot, albeit very long, to win the West Division title so there is a lot on the line. QB Ty Gangi and the offense is clicking very well with a good running game with Toa Taua. The defense has stepped up as well and is no longer one of the worst in the league and in fact are one of the best teams in getting to the quarterback.
San Jose State has been showing improvement with QB Josh Love moving the ball better over the past month but scoring points is still an issue. Plus, the Spartans defense is good at pass break ups and getting interceptions but they are giving up way too many points overall to stop a rolling Nevada team.
