This is the big game of the week, and arguably the season up until this point, as Fresno State travels to the blue turf to take on Boise State on Friday night. This will be the third time these to teams have played in about a year.

They each played last year in the 2017 season finale and also the following week in the Mountain West title game. The teams split but it was Boise State who won the conference title.

Every time the Bulldogs have a really good team they more often than not fall flat on its face. Each time it is said this year is different and perhaps this year is different and it seems that way. Fresno State has outclassed the entirety of its schedule outside of the Minnesota loss which is looking worse and worse each week.

However, this Fresno State team is more complete on both sides of the ball with multiple options in the passing game with Marcus McMaryion under center throwing the ball to KeeShan Johnson, Jared Rice and others. Plus, the defense is even better than last year.

However, Boise State is the reigning champs and have not lost to Fresno State at home since 1984. This year, while the Broncos are a peg below than some thought with two losses on the year, they are really good when this team is going on all cylinders.

The Broncos have the experience which includes Brett Rypien who is a four-year starter, running back Alexander Mattison is in his second year as a starter and multiple wide receivers.

The defense is great as well but they are banged up a bit with three starters out with season-ending injuries in David Moa, DeAndre Pierce and Riley Whimpey. Even with those players out the Broncos defense is loaded.
